The Second Half Foundation (Reg. 1141988) was formed in May 2012 with the mission of tackling loneliness and isolation for any person over the age of 50. We wish to serve ANYONE affected by isolation from any background and reduce social exclusion: from the underprivileged to ethnic minorities to those who are just isolated. We believe isolation does not just affect the underprivileged and people living in deprived circumstance but people from all socioeconomic backgrounds.

The Second Half Foundation (SHF) was established with the purpose of building centres throughout the United Kingdom to serve men and women aged 50 plus to ensure that our growing ageing population will have a place to develop more meaningful connections and continue to learn and grow. The Second Half Foundation is creating a self- sustaining template that reflects the problems that our ageing population face in the 21st century with 21st century solutions.

The first Second Half Centre opened its doors to the community in October 2012 in the NHS St Charles Centre for Health and Wellbeing in North Kensington, London. Since opening its doors, The Second Half Centre has 1470 members, 400 attendees each week, engaged 140 volunteers, and provides 68 hours of classes and workshops weekly.
